Camshaft Position (CMP) Sensor (I30)
CMP sensor monitors engine speed and piston position. CMP sensor is mounted on front engine cover and faces the camshaft. CMP sensor consists of a permanent-magnet core and a coil. CMP sensor voltage signal to PCM changes as the distance between camshaft sprocket teeth changes when engine is cranking or running. PCM uses this signal to verify cylinder No. 1 TDC position for fuel injection and ignition timing.
