Hood Switch Check
- Check Hood Switch input Signal
Ensure ignition is off. Using DVOM, measure voltage (backprobe) between ground and terminal No. 27 (Yellow/Black wire) at Smart Entrance Control Unit (SECU) harness connector. See Figure
. About 5 volts should be present only when engine hood is closed. With engine hood open, reading should be zero volts. If voltage is as specified, hood switch is okay. If voltage is not as specified, go to next step.
- Check Hood Switch
Disconnect hood switch harness connector. Using DVOM, check for continuity between hood switch terminals. Ensure continuity is present only when hood switch is released. If continuity is not as specified, replace hood switch. If continuity is as specified, check for open or short circuit between hood switch and SECU. Check hood switch ground circuit. Repair as necessary.
