Possible Causes

Malfunction is detected when EGR flow is detected under conditions that do not call for EGR. Possible causes are:

EGR-VCV circuit open or shorted.
EGR-VCV leaking or stuck open.
Faulty EGR temperature sensor.

NOTE: Diagnosis for this DTC will occur when engine coolant temperature is less than 122-140°F (50-60°C). Therefore, it will be better to turn ignition on (start engine) when engine coolant temperature is less than 86°F (30°C) when starting DTC confirmation test.
