Security Light Check

  1. Turn ignition switch to OFF position and disconnect Smart Entrance Control Unit (SECU) 24-pin connector. Measure voltage between SECU 24-pin connector terminal No. 38 and ground. See Figure . Battery voltage should be present. If battery voltage is not present, go to next step. If battery voltage is present, SECURITY light is okay.
  2. Remove instrument cluster and SECURITY light bulb. Inspect bulb for damage. If SECURITY light bulb is okay, go to next step. If SECURITY light bulb is not okay, replace bulb and retest system.
  3. With SECURITY light disconnected, measure voltage between SECURITY light terminal No. 1 (Yellow/Red wire) and ground. Battery voltage should be present. If battery voltage is present, inspect Green/Orange wire for open or short between SECURITY light and SECU. If battery voltage is not present, check for blown fuse No. 12 (10-amp) located in fuse block, under left side of instrument panel, or Yellow/Red wire between SECURITY light and fuse for an open or short.
