Trunk Compartment Light Switch Check

  1. Turn ignition switch to OFF position and remove key from cylinder. SECURITY light should flash every 2.6 seconds. Close hood, trunk lid and all doors. Lock doors with remote controller from inside vehicle. SECURITY light should illuminate for 30 seconds. Open trunk lid, with switch inside vehicle, within 30 seconds after door is locked. SECURITY light should turn off. If SECURITY light does not operate correctly, go to next step. If SECURITY light operates correctly, trunk light switch is okay.
  2. Measure voltage by backprobing between terminal No. 13 (Purple/Yellow wire) on SECU connector and ground. See Figure . Voltage should be zero volts with trunk open and about 5 volts with trunk closed. If voltages are not as specified, go to next step. If voltages are as specified, trunk switch is okay.
  3. Perform trunk compartment light switch test. See SWITCHES  under COMPONENT TESTS. If switch is okay, check hood switch ground circuit and/or suspect circuit between SECU and hood switch for open or short.
