Possible Causes
Malfunction is detected when:
- An excessively low or high voltage from APP sensor No. 1 is sent to ECM.
- An excessively low or high voltage from APP sensor No. 2 is sent to ECM.
- A difference between signals from sensor No. 1 and sensor No. 2 is out of the specified range.
When malfunction "A", "B" or "C" is detected, ECM enters fail-safe mode. ECM will only allow throttle to open 10 degrees. Throttle opening speed is about 5 seconds. Acceleration will be poor.
Possible causes are:
- APP sensor No. 1 or 2 circuit open or shorted.
- Defective electronic throttle control actuator.
