DTC Confirmation Test (Using CONSULT-II)

CAUTION: DO NOT remove fuel cap during DTC confirmation test.
NOTE: If a DTC confirmation test has been previously performed, turn ignition off and wait at least 10 seconds before performing next DTC confirmation test.
NOTE: Before performing test, ensure fuel tank level is 1/4-3/4 and vehicle is on flat level surface. Ensure that EVAP hoses are connected to EVAP canister purge volume control solenoid valve properly.
  1. Open engine hood. Tighten fuel cap securely until ratcheting sound is heard.
  2. Turn ignition on.
  3. Turn ignition off and wait at least 10 seconds.
  4. Turn ignition on and select DATA MONITOR mode with CONSULT-II.
  5. Ensure COOLAN TEMP/S indicates 32-158°F (0-70°C) and INT/A TEMP SE indicates 32-140°F (0-60°C).
  6. NOTE: If engine speed cannot be maintained within range displayed on CONSULT-II screen, perform BASIC INSPECTION. See ON-VEHICLE ADJUSTMENTS article.
  7. Select EVAP SML LEAK P0442/P1442 of EVAPORATIVE SYSTEM in DTC WORK SUPPORT mode with CONSULT-II. Follow instructions displayed.
  8. NOTE: Ensure EVAP hoses are connected to EVAP canister purge volume control solenoid valve properly.
  9. If OK is displayed on CONSULT-II, system is okay at this time. If NG is displayed, select SELF-DIAG RESULTS. If P0442 is displayed, go to DTC P0442: EVAP CONTROL SYSTEM SMALL LEAK DETECTED (NEGATIVE PRESSURE)  . If P0455 is displayed, go to DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE  .
