Diagnostic Procedure

  1. CHECK PNP RELAY (WITH CONSULT-II) 

    With CONSULT-II 

    1. Turn ignition switch to "ON" position. (Do not start engine.)
    2. Select "SELECTION FROM MENU" in "DATA MONITOR" mode for "A/T" with CONSULT-II and check monitor "STARTER RELAY" (PNP relay) ON/OFF.

    OK or NG 

    1. OK >> GO TO  4.
    2. NG >> GO TO  3.
  2. CHECK PNP RELAY (WITHOUT CONSULT-II) 

    Without CONSULT-II 

    1. Turn ignition switch to "ON" position. (Do not start engine.)
    2. Check the voltage between the TCM connector and ground.

    OK or NG 

    1. OK >> GO TO  4.
    2. NG >> GO TO 3.
  3. DETECT MALFUNCTIONING ITEM 

    Check the following items:

    • PNP relay. Refer to "STANDARDIZED RELAY ".
    • Disconnections or short-circuits in the harness between TCM and the PNP relay
    • Ground circuit for the PNP relay

    OK or NG 

    1. OK >> GO TO 4.
    2. NG >> Repair or replace damaged parts.
  4. CHECK DTC 

    Perform "DTC Confirmation Procedure". Refer to "DTC CONFIRMATION PROCEDURE ".

    OK or NG 

    1. OK >> INSPECTION END 
    2. NG >> GO TO 5.
  5. PERFORM TCM INSPECTION 
    1. Perform TCM input/output signal inspection.
    2. If NG, recheck TCM pin terminals for damage or loose connection with harness connector.

    OK or NG 

    1. OK >> INSPECTION END 
    2. NG >> Repair or replace damaged parts.
