Inspection Procedure

NOTE:
  • When replacing the VSC actuator assembly, perform zero point calibration (See CALIBRATION  ).
  • Make sure the skid control ECU is not in test mode before proceeding.
  • Before using these procedures, first check other DTCs which may cause the ABS warning light to remain on.
  1. INSPECT CAN COMMUNICATION SYSTEM 
    1. Check if a CAN communication system DTC is output (See DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE TABLE ).

      Result

      DTC is not output A
      DTC is output B

    B: GO TO CAN COMMUNICATION SYSTEM  (See HOW TO PROCEED WITH TROUBLESHOOTING )

    A: Go To Next Step 

  2. INSPECT CONNECTOR CONNECTION CONDITION 
    1. Check the skid control ECU connector connection condition.

      OK: The connector is securely connected. 

    NG: CONNECT CONNECTOR CORRECTLY 

    OK: Go To Next Step 

  3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (SKID CONTROL ECU - BATTERY AND BODY GROUND) 
    1. Disconnect the A17 ECU connector.
    2. Measure the voltage according to the value (s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage 

      TESTER CONNECTION SPECIFIED CONDITION TABLE

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      A17-9 (IG1) - Body ground Ignition switch ON 11 to 14 V
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value (s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance 

      TESTER CONNECTION SPECIFIED CONDITION TABLE

      A17-1 (GND-I) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω

    NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: Go To Next Step 

  4. PERFORM ACTIVE TEST USING TECHSTREAM (ABS WARNING LIGHT) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the ignition switch to ON.
    3. Turn the Techstream on.
    4. Select the Active Test mode and operate the ABS warning light using the Techstream.

    5. Check that the ABS warning light turns on and off in the combination meter when using the Techstream.

      OK: The ABS warning light turns on and off in accordance with the Techstream operation. 

      HINT:

      When the ABS warning light remains illuminated, there may be an open in the wire harness of the combination meter or abnormalities in the meter circuit.

    NG: GO TO METER/GAUGE SYSTEM  (See HOW TO PROCEED WITH TROUBLESHOOTING )

    OK: REPLACE VSC ACTUATOR ASSEMBLY  (See REMOVAL  )
