Diagnosis Procedure

  1. CHECK SELECTOR LEVER POSITION

    Check the selector lever position for damage. Refer to "2WD : INSPECTION AND ADJUSTMENT " (2WD), "AWD : INSPECTION AND ADJUSTMENT " (AWD).

    Is the inspection result normal? 

    YES: GO TO 2.

    NO: Adjust control linkage. Refer to "2WD : INSPECTION AND ADJUSTMENT " (2WD), "AWD : INSPECTION AND ADJUSTMENT " (AWD).

  2. CHECK POWER SOURCE
    1. Disconnect stop lamp switch connector.
    2. Turn ignition switch ON.
    3. Check voltage between stop lamp switch vehicle side harness connector terminal and ground.
      VOLTAGE SPECIFICATION

      Stop lamp switch vehicle side harness connector Ground Condition Voltage (Approx.)

      E110 3 Depressed brake pedal Battery voltage
      Released brake pedal 0 V

      Is the inspection result normal? 

      YES: GO TO 3.

      NO: Check the following. If NG, repair or replace damaged parts.

      • 10A fuse [No. 3, located in the fuse block (J/B)]
      • Harness for short to ground or open between battery and fuse block (J/B).
      • Harness for short to ground or open between fuse block (J/B) vehicle side harness connector terminal 4F and stop lamp switch vehicle side harness connector terminal 3.
  3. CHECK STOP LAMP SWITCH

    Check stop lamp switch. Refer to "COMPONENT INSPECTION (STOP LAMP SWITCH) ".

    Is the inspection result normal? 

    YES: GO TO 4.

    NO: Replace damaged parts.

  4. CHECK GROUND CIRCUIT
    1. Disconnect control device connector.
    2. Check continuity between control device vehicle side harness connector terminal and ground.

      Is the inspection result normal? 

      YES: GO TO 5.

      NO: Repair or replace damaged parts.

  5. CHECK HARNESS BETWEEN STOP LAMP SWITCH AND CONTROL DEVICE (PART 1)

    Check continuity between stop lamp switch vehicle side harness connector terminal and control device vehicle side harness connector terminal.

    Is the inspection result normal? 

    YES: GO TO 6.

    NO: Repair or replace damaged parts.

  6. CHECK HARNESS BETWEEN STOP LAMP SWITCH AND CONTROL DEVICE (PART 2)

    Check continuity between stop lamp switch vehicle side harness connector terminal and ground.

    Is the inspection result normal? 

    YES: GO TO 7.

    NO: Repair or replace damaged parts.

  7. CHECK SHIFT LOCK UNIT
    1. Remove shift lock unit. Refer to "2WD : EXPLODED VIEW " (2WD), "AWD : EXPLODED VIEW " (AWD).
    2. Check shift lock solenoid. Refer to "COMPONENT INSPECTION (SHIFT LOCK SOLENOID) ".

      Is the inspection result normal? 

      YES: Check the following.

      • Harness for short to ground or open between control device connector terminal 8 and shift lock solenoid control device side harness connector terminal 3.
      • Harness for open between control device connector terminal 4 and shift lock solenoid control device side harness connector terminal 4.

      NO: Replace damaged parts.
