Section 147 (Air Conditioning): Condenser: Installation

  1. INSTALL COOLER DRYER 
    1. Using pliers, install the cooler dryer.

    2. Apply a sufficient amount of compressor oil to the contact surfaces of a new O-ring and the cap.

      Compressor oil: ND-OIL 8 or equivalent 

    3. Install the O-ring to the cap.

    4. Using a 14 mm socket hexagon wrench, install the cap to the modulator.

      Torque: 2.9 N*m (30 kgf*cm, 26 in.*lbf)

  2. INSTALL COOLER CONDENSER ASSEMBLY 
    1. Install the cooler condenser with the 2 bolts, as shown below.

      Torque: 9.8 N*m (100 kgf*cm, 87 in.*lbf)

  3. CONNECT AIR CONDITIONING TUBE AND ACCESSORY ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the attached vinyl tape from the pipe and the connecting part of the cooler condenser.
    2. Sufficiently apply compressor oil to a new O-ring and the fitting surface of the pipe joint.

      Compressor oil: ND-OIL 8 or equivalent

    3. Install the O-ring on the air conditioning tube and accessory.
    4. Connect the air conditioning tube and accessory on the cooler condenser with the 2 bolts.

      Torque: 9.8 N*m (100 kgf*cm, 7 ft.*lbf) 

      NOTE:
      • When tightening the bolt, do not allow any tools to contact the pipe.
      • When tightening the bolt, hold a part of the pipe near the connector.
  4. CONNECT DISCHARGE HOSE 
    1. Remove the attached vinyl tape from the hose and the connecting part of the cooler condenser.
    2. Sufficiently apply compressor oil to a new O-ring and the fitting surface of the hose joint.

      Compressor oil: ND-OIL 8 or equivalent

    3. Install the O-ring on the discharge hose.
    4. Connect the discharge hose on the cooler condenser with the bolt.

      Torque: 9.8 N*m (100 kgf*cm, 7 ft.*lbf) 

      NOTE:
      • When tightening the bolt, do not allow any tools to contact the pipe.
      • When tightening the bolt, hold a part of the pipe near the connector.
  5. INSTALL RADIATOR ASSEMBLY 
    1. for 1GR-FE:

      Install the radiator (See INSTALLATION ).

    2. for 2UZ-FE:

      Install the radiator (See INSTALLATION ).

    3. for 3UR-FE:

      Install the radiator (See INSTALLATION ).

  6. INSTALL FRONT BUMPER COVER 
    1. for Steel Type Bumper:

      Install the front bumper cover (see INSTALLATION ).

    2. for Resin Type Bumper:

      Install the front bumper cover (see INSTALLATION ).

  7. CONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL 
    NOTE: Some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected (see INITIALIZATION ).
  8. CHARGE REFRIGERANT  (See REPLACEMENT  )
  9. WARM UP ENGINE  (See REPLACEMENT  )
  10. CHECK FOR REFRIGERANT GAS LEAK  (See REPLACEMENT  )
  11. CHECK SRS WARNING LIGHT 
    1. Check the SRS warning light (see CHECK MODE PROCEDURE ).
