Diagnostic Codes
- With engine off, turn ignition switch to ON position. Ensure overdrive switch is in ON position. Diagnostic codes can be read if overdrive switch is in ON position. If overdrive is off, overdrive light will illuminate continuously and will not blink. Using a jumper wire, short DG terminal and ground. See Fig 2 .
- Diagnostic codes are read by counting number of times OD OFF light flashes on instrument panel. If transmission electrical system is operating normally, light will blink 2 times per second.
- If there is a malfunction in system, light will blink once per second. Number of blinks will equal first number of diagnostic code. After a 1.5 second pause, second number of diagnostic code will flash. If there are 2 or more codes, there is a 2.5 second pause between codes. Remove jumper wire from DG terminal.
- If diagnostic codes 31, 32, 33 or 34 occur, an electrical failure in solenoid is indicated. See Fig 1 . Mechanical failures, such as sticking switches, will not appear as diagnostic codes.
NOTE:
If several diagnostic codes are stored, lowest number code will flash first. Other codes will flash from lowest to highest number.
