Ignition Timing
- Check ignition timing with engine at normal operating temperature. Set parking brake. Place transmission in Park (A/T) or Neutral (M/T) position.
- On I-Mark, if vehicle is equipped with power steering, front wheels should be facing straight ahead.
- On all models, connect tachometer. Connect timing light to either No. 1 or No. 4-cylinder. Turn off all accessories and A/C (if equipped).
- On I-Mark, disconnect and plug both distributor vacuum advance hoses. On Amigo and Pickup, disconnect distributor vacuum advance hose.
- On all models, start engine. Check ignition timing. See the IGNITION TIMING
specifications table.
- If timing is out of adjustment, loosen distributor hold-down bolt and turn distributor in either direction until timing is within specification. After adjustment, retighten distributor hold-down bolt.
