Service Information
Isuzu Motors America, Inc. will be extending its coverage to include the reprogramming of an Engine Control Module (ECM), powertrain Control Module (PCM), and Vehicle Control Module (VCM).
POLICY:
If an Isuzu vehicle is brought into an authorized Isuzu Dealer with the complaint that the vehicle failed to meet a state anti-smog standard or state EPA-approved I/M test and the failure was due to an emission related reprogramming, effective August 1, 2007, the reprogramming concern will be covered under the specified major emission-control system DEFECTS WARRANTY; 8/80.
Some of the conditions that will require reprogramming efforts are items such as false MIL's, I/M issues, Generic Scan Tool Fixes, Negotiated OBD corrections and Tailpipe Evap emissions.
If the concern is a non-emission failure of an emission component, that repair will NOT be covered under the long-term emission control warranty coverage. This includes but is not limited to drivability concerns, ABS light, etc. Failures that are non-emission related will be covered under the New Vehicle Limited Warranty.
Repair Order requirements: All other requirements, including proper documentation, remain in effect.
