Bench Testing: Rotor

  1. Measure diameter of slip rings. If less than 1.02" (26 mm) replace rotor. If slip ring diameter is within specification, go to next step.
  2. Using an ohmmeter, check rotor coil resistance across slip rings. If ohmmeter reading is greater than 3.75 ohms at 68°F (20°C), rotor is defective.
  3. If ohmmeter reading is 3.75 ohms or less at 68°F (20°C), connect an ohmmeter between one slip ring and rotor core. If continuity exists, replace rotor assembly.
