Anti-Lock Brake System - 4-Wheel: Description
CAUTION:
See ANTI-LOCK BRAKE SAFETY PRECAUTIONS
article in GENERAL INFORMATION.
The Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) operates on all 4 wheels. ABS operation is controlled by the Electronic Brake Control Module (EBCM). The EBCM receives input signals from wheel speed sensors to monitor wheel speed. If EBCM determines a wheel is about to lock, hydraulic pressure is adjusted to maintain optimum braking. ABS system consists of an EBCM, "G" sensor/accelerometer, hydraulic unit, Brake, ABS warning light and wheel speed sensors. Trooper uses 4 wheel speed sensors. See COMPONENT LOCATIONS .
NOTE:
For additional information on brake system, see BRAKE SYSTEM article.
