Cruise Control Systems: Description
The cruise control system uses mechanical and electrical operated devices to maintain vehicle speed settings greater than 25 MPH. The cruise control unit receives command signals from cruise control main switch and cruise control SET/RESUME switch. It also receives operating signals from brakelight switch, Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS), clutch switch (M/T) or gear position switch (A/T).
The cruise control unit compares actual vehicle speed to vehicle speed setting. The brakelight switch releases system control of throttle, when brake pedal is pressed. The clutch switch or gear position switch send a disengage signal to the cruise control unit.
