Speedometer & Odometer Do Not Function

  1. Check Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS) using oscilloscope. If VSS outputs in 4 pulses per 1 rotation, go to next step. If VSS does not output in 4 pulses per 1 rotation, replace VSS. See VEHICLE SPEED SENSOR (VSS) under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
  2. Check for open/shorted wires or poor connections between VSS and instrument cluster and repair as necessary. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . If all circuits are okay, replace speedometer. See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
