Cruise Control Systems: Description

WARNING: Deactivate air bag system before performing any service operation. See AIR BAG RESTRAINT SYSTEMS article. DO NOT apply electrical power to any component on steering column without first deactivating air bag system. Air bag may deploy.

The cruise control system maintains a desired vehicle speed under normal driving conditions. Cruise control system consists of control module, Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS), combination switch, and an actuator to maintain vehicle speed. Hombre relies on PCM/VCM for vehicle speed input. Release or canceling switches are used to disengage cruise control operation. The release switches are incorporated into brakelight switch and clutch switch circuits.
