Diagnostic Procedure
- Perform system check. See BODY CONTROL MODULE (BCM) DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM. Go to next step.
- Use scan tool to select BODY CONTROL MODULE, DISPLAY DTCS. Momentarily turn ignition switch to CRANK position. Release ignition switch to ON. DO NOT start vehicle. If DTC B2960 is present, go to next step. If DTC B2960 is not present, code is intermittent. See INTERMITTENTS under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM.
- Use scan tool to display DTCs. If DTC B2947, B2948, B2957 or B2958 is present, go to appropriate diagnostic test procedure. If none of the listed DTCs are present, go to next step.
- If Passlock(tm) sensor was just replaced, go to next step. If Passlock(tm) sensor was not just replaced, go to step 6 .
- If Passlock(tm) sensor learn procedure was performed since sensor was replaced, go to next step. If Passlock(tm) sensor learn procedure was not performed since sensor was replaced, go to step 9 .
- Use scan tool to observe Passlock(tm) sensor data voltage for one minute. If voltage changes more than plus or minus 0.02 volts, go to next step. If voltage does not change as specified, go to step 9 .
- Check for poor connections at Passlock(tm) sensor harness connector. Repair as necessary. Go to step 10 . If no problem is found, go to next step.
- Replace Passlock(tm) sensor. See STEERING COLUMN SWITCHES - HOMBRE article. Go to next step.
- Reprogram Passlock(tm) sensor. See REPROGRAMMING SEED & KEY or PASSLOCK(tm) AUTO LEARN PROCEDURE under PROGRAMMING.
- Use scan tool to clear DTCs. Turn ignition off. Momentarily turn ignition switch to CRANK position. Release ignition switch to ON. Select BODY CONTROL MODULE, DISPLAY DTCS. If DTC B2960 is present, go back to step 3 .
