Cruise Control Systems: Description
WARNING:
Vehicles are equipped with air bag supplemental restraint system. Before attempting ANY repairs involving steering column, instrument panel or related components, see AIR BAG RESTRAINT SYSTEMS
article in RESTRAINTS.
The cruise control system maintains desired vehicle speed under normal driving conditions. Cruise control system consists of Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS) and combination switch. Powertrain Control Module (PCM) controls engine speed through a throttle-by-wire system. Cruise control functions are integrated into PCM, thereby eliminating the need for an actuator and it's related components. Release or canceling switches are used to disengage cruise control operation. Release switches are incorporated into brakelight switch and clutch switch circuits.
