The numbers below refer to the step numbers in the diagnostic procedures.

   If DTC P0117 can only be repeated by duplicating FAILURE RECORDS condition, use ENGINE COOLANT TEMPERATURE SENSOR RESISTANCE table to test ECT sensor at various temperatures. Testing ECT sensor at different temperatures eliminates possibility that ECT sensor may be shifted, sending faulty readings to PCM. If a shifted sensor is identified, replace ECT sensor. If ECT sensor tests okay, check for intermittent problem. See DIAGNOSTIC AIDS .
