The catalytic converter should be replaced every 25, 000 miles. To further reduce carbon monoxide and hydrocarbon emissions, a system maintenance indicator is built into the center switch panel. The indicator lights at 25, 000 miles indicating renewal of catalytic converters and EGR maintenance. The device is reset to "O" after maintenance using a special key. The switch mechanism is built into the speedometer flexible drive line. The unit is a gear driven mechanical reduction unit and is fitted with a magnetically operated reed switch.
