Road Test

  1. Place selector lever in "D", and accelerate vehicle from a stop. The 1-2 and 2-3 shift should occur at all throttle openings. See SHIFT SPEED SPECIFICATIONS  table. As vehicle speed decreases below 10 MPH, a 3-2 and 2-1 downshift should occur.
  2. Place selector lever in "2" (Intermediate) and accelerate from a stop. A 1-2 upshift should occur and no 2-3 shift should occur. See SHIFT SPEED SPECIFICATIONS  table. As vehicle speed decreases below 10 MPH, a 2-1 downshift should occur.
  3. Place selector lever in "1" (Low), and accelerate vehicle from a stop. No upshifts should occur below 6200 RPM. Testing for upshift is not necessary.
  4. With selector lever in "D", and vehicle speed approximately 35 MPH, close throttle and move selector lever to "2" (Intermediate). Transmission should immediately downshift to 2nd gear, increase engine RPM and an engine braking effect should be noticed.
  5. With selector lever in "2" (Intermediate), and vehicle speed approximately 30-40 MPH, close throttle and move selector lever to "1" (Low). Transmission should downshift to 1st gear between 40-20 MPH, increase engine RPM and an engine braking effect should be noticed.
