Removal (6.0L)

  1. Disconnect negative battery cable. Raise and support vehicle. Remove Crankshaft Position (CKP) sensor (flywheel sensor) heat shield. Remove flywheel sensor. Rotate flywheel until No. 1 piston is at TDC. Ensure crankshaft timing marks are aligned.
  2. Install flywheel sensor and heat shield. Lower vehicle. Remove engine cover. Disconnect front and rear coil connectors (if necessary). Disconnect vacuum hoses and remove cruise control assembly (if necessary).
  3. Remove distributor cap. Ensure distributor rotor aligns with TDC mark on distributor housing. See Figure . Remove distributor vent tubes. Remove distributor bolts and distributor.
