Transmission Control Module (TCM) and Main Control Valve Body
WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 6 other vehicles, including the 2008 Jaguar S-Type, 2007 Jaguar S-Type, 2006 Jaguar S-Type, 2005 Jaguar S-Type, and 2004 Jaguar S-Type. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
The transmission control module (TCM) and main control valve body is a combination of hydraulic and electronic control units. Both these modules are installed in the transmission, in the fluid pan.
This technical principle has the following advantages:
- Minimum tolerances (TCM is mated to solenoids)
- Better coordination of gear shifts
- Increased refinement
- Optimized shift quality
- Good reliability, since the number of plug connections and interfaces is reduced.
