TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN

Reference Number(s): 310-12, Date of Issue:  10/2004
JAGUAR: 2004-05 MY XK Range
VIN: A39959-A41638

Issue

In the event of a problem with the Adaptive Cruise Control system on 2004-05 MY XK vehicles, within the above VIN range, WDS software release JTP 759/33 or later must be used when carrying out the speed control module alignment setup and check procedure.

The latest WDS software will check the software level of the speed control module to identify modules with a non-robust level of software. If the software level is within a specific range, the speed control will be inhibited and a screen will be displayed stating 'module software level incorrect'.

The speed control module may NOT be aligned correctly after carrying out speed control module alignment setup and check procedures if using WDS software release JTP 759/32 or earlier.

NOTE: When the vehicle is delivered from the factory the speed control module is aligned correctly.

Action

If WDS instructs the technician to 'replace the adaptive speed control module and submit an EPQR', install a new speed control module, following the procedure outlined below.

PROCEDURE

  1. Open hood and install fender protection covers.
  2. Remove the Engine Control Module (ECM) For additional information, refer to Jaguar Workshop Manual Section 303-14, ECM, SRO 18.30.01.
  3. Displace the speed control module from the Velcro fixing.
  4. Disconnect the speed control module electrical connector and place module aside.
  5. Install the Velcro pad on the underside of the new speed control module.
  6. Connect the new speed control module to the electrical connector.
  7. Position and secure the new speed control module to the Velcro fastener.
  8. Install the ECM.
  9. Remove fender protection covers and close hood.
  10. Configure the speed control module configuration as new, using WDS release JTP 759/33 or later, then drive vehicle on road to complete setup.
