CONDITION SUMMARY
Situation: To ensure certain 2010-2011 model year XF vehicles are equipped with the very latest software to enhance the ownership experience, a limited number of vehicles within the affected VIN range require a number of module software updates. These updates will result in the following changes to vehicle operation:
- Instrument Cluster (IC); software update to eliminate a battery drain when the steering column adjustment switch is in the manual position and the ignition is OFF.
- Infotainment Control Module (ICM); software update to reduce battery drain by reducing the time period that the Audio system may be used with the ignition OFF from 1 hour to 10 minutes.
Action: Retailers are required to HOLD all affected vehicles in the above VIN range that are in their control and refrain from releasing the vehicles for new or used vehicle sale pending completion of the rework action detailed in this Technical Bulletin. Affected vehicles in the hands of owners should be repaired at the next available opportunity. At the time of customer appointment, ensure that all outstanding service campaigns for each individual vehicle are identified and allocate sufficient time and resources to complete all campaigns.
