WARNING: The Blind Spot Monitoring (BSM) is designed as a driver aid not a safety device. The driver should always exercise due care and attention whilst driving.

There are 2 Side Object Detection Control Modules (SODL/SODR) and they are located in the corner of the rear bumper, 1 on each side.

Each SODL/SODR connector has power, ground, High Speed (HS) Controller Area Network (CAN) chassis bus wires and a private CAN bus.

The system uses 2 radar sensors. They are incorporated in each of the SODL/SODR and are connected via a private CAN bus to exchange information.

The SODL/SODR do an auto-alignment self-check every time when in use. This procedure can take up to an hour in some environments. However the Blind Spot Monitoring (BSM) continues to operate as normal.

The SODL/SODR receive vehicle speed on the HS CAN chassis bus. The system activates when the speed is greater than 10 km/h (6 mph) and remains active until the speed lowers below 5 km/h (3 mph).
