Starter - BOSCH: Overhaul: BOSCH: Reassembly

  1. Install clutch and stop collar. Install snap ring. Using battery terminal puller, pull clutch stop collar over snap ring. Install clutch shift lever into drive end housing.
  2. Install clutch shift lever bolt. Install and tighten shift lever nut. Install rubber seal into drive end housing. Install armature and clutch into drive end housing. Slide field frame over starter armature.
  3. Install starter brush plate. Slide field brushes into their holders by prying retaining springs back. Install starter end shield. Install through bolts, flat washer and "C" washer.
  4. Install starter end shield bushing cap. Work solenoid onto shift fork. Install solenoid mounting screws. Install field coil terminal lead to solenoid. Before installation, bench test unit.
