Test 48D - Repairing Instrument Cluster Batter Power Supply

NOTE: For connector terminal identification, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION  . For wiring diagram, see WIRING DIAGRAMS article in this section.
CAUTION: Always turn ignition off prior to disconnecting or connecting any module connector.
  1. Replace IOD fuse in Power Distribution Center (PDC). PDC is located in front of left front strut tower. Remove and inspect new IOD fuse. If fuse is open, go to step 5). If fuse is okay, go to next step.
  2. Reinstall IOD fuse. If vehicle is not equipped with power door locks or power mirrors, system is operating properly. Perform TEST VER-1B  . If vehicle is equipped with either power door locks or power mirrors, go to next step.
  3. If vehicle is not equipped with power door locks, go to next step. Depress any door lock switch to LOCK position then to UNLOCK position. If door locks do not operate properly, reconnect all disconnected components and go to TEST 19A  . If vehicle is not equipped with power mirrors, system is operating properly. Perform TEST VER-1B  . If vehicle is equipped with power mirrors, go to next step.
  4. Operate power mirrors in all directions. Remove and inspect IOD fuse. If fuse is open, see POWER MIRRORS under ACCESSORIES & EQUIPMENT to repair short in power mirror switch circuits. If fuse is okay, system is operating properly. Perform TEST VER-1B  .
  5. Ensure courtesy light switch, located on slider dimmer switch, is off. Ensure hood is closed. Ensure vanity mirror and glove box lights are off. Close all doors. Disconnect Black left pod switch connector. Go to next step.
  6. Using DRB in ohmmeter mode, check resistance of fused battery feed circuit (Pink wire) at IOD fuse. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to step 8). If resistance is more than 5 ohms, go to next step.
  7. Check resistance of courtesy light switch output circuit (Pink/Light Blue wire) at Black left pod switch connector. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short to ground in Pink/Light Blue wire and replace IOD fuse. Perform TEST VER-1B  . If resistance is more than 5 ohms, repair short to ground in Pink wire and replace IOD fuse. Perform TEST VER-1B  .
  8. Turn ignition off. Disconnect Blue Body Control Module (BCM) connector. BCM is located behind center console. Using DRB in ohmmeter mode, check resistance of fused battery feed circuit (Pink wire) at IOD fuse. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, replace BCM and IOD fuse. Perform TEST VER-1B  . If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step.
  9. Disconnect Electronic Instrument Cluster (EIC) connector. Check resistance of fused battery feed circuit (Pink wire) at IOD fuse. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, replace EIC and IOD fuse. Perform TEST VER-1B  . If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step.
  10. Disconnect vehicle radio. Using DRB in ohmmeter mode, check resistance of fused battery feed circuit (Pink wire) at IOD fuse. If resistance is more than 5 ohms, replace vehicle radio and IOD fuse. Perform TEST VER-1B  . If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short to ground in Pink wire and replace IOD fuse. Perform TEST VER-1B  .
