Front Wiper Switch Test

  1. Disconnect negative battery cable. Unplug multifunction switch harness connector. See FRONT WIPER SWITCH  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
  2. Check for continuity across specified terminals of multifunction switch connector. See Fig 1 . See appropriate WIPER SWITCH CONTINUITY table. If continuity is not as specified, replace multifunction switch as an assembly.

WIPER SWITCH CONTINUITY (INTERMITTENT WIPERS)

Switch Position Continuity Between Terminals
Off 6 & 7
Delay (1) 1 & 2, 1 & 4, 2 & 4, 8 & 9
Low 4 & 6
High 4 & 5
Wash 3 & 4
(1) Resistance at maximum delay should be 270,000-330,000 ohms. Resistance at minimum delay should be zero ohms with ohmmeter set on high ohm scale.
