Test SC-3A - Checking Speed Control Operation

  1. Disconnect brake switch connector. Check connector for damaged, pushed out or miswired terminals. Repair as necessary. Turn ignition on. Using DRB in voltmeter mode, check voltage of brake switch sense circuit at brake switch connector terminal No. 3 (Dark Blue/Red). See Figure -Figure . If voltage is less than 10 volts, proceed to step 3).
  2. If voltage is more than 10 volts, connect a jumper wire between brake switch connector terminal No. 3 (Dark Blue/Red wire) and brake ground circuit at brake switch connector terminal No. 6 (Black wire). See Figure -Figure . Using DRB, read brake switch input status. If DRB displays BRAKE SW RELEASED, replace brake switch. Perform TEST SC-VER  . If DRB does not display BRAKE SW RELEASED, repair open in Black wire. Perform TEST SC-VER  .
  3. Turn ignition off. Disconnect Powertrain Control Module (PCM) connector. Check connector for damaged, pushed out or miswired terminals. Repair as necessary. Perform TEST SC-VER  . If connector is okay, go to next step.
  4. Using DRB in ohmmeter mode, check resistance of Gray PCM connector terminal C24, brake switch sense circuit (White/Pink wire). If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short to ground in White/Pink wire. Perform TEST SC-VER  . If resistance is greater than 5 ohms, replace PCM. Perform TEST SC-VER  .
