Test SC-1B - Checking Speed Control Operation

  1. Disconnect brake switch 6-pin connector. Check connector for damaged, pushed out or miswired terminals. Repair as necessary. Perform TEST SC-VER  . If connector is okay, turn ignition on. Ensure speed control vent solenoid is still in activation mode.
  2. Using an external voltmeter, probe brake switch connector terminal No. 1, speed control power supply circuit (Yellow/Red wire). If voltage is less than 10 volts, go to step 4).
  3. If voltage is greater than 10 volts, turn ignition off. Using an ohmmeter, check resistance between brake switch connector terminal No. 4 and speed control servo connector terminal No. 3, (Dark Blue/Red wire). See Figure -Figure . If resistance is greater than 5 ohms, repair open in Dark Blue/Red wire. Perform TEST SC-VER  . If resistance is 5 ohms or less, replace brake switch. Perform TEST SC-VER  .
  4. Ensure ignition is off. Disconnect Powertrain Control Module (PCM) connectors. Inspect connectors and terminals for damage. Repair connectors and terminals as necessary and perform TEST SC-VER  . If connectors and terminals are okay, go to next step.
  5. Using external ohmmeter measure resistance of speed control power supply circuit (Yellow/Red wire) between PCM connector terminal C11 and brake switch connector terminal No. 1. See Figure -Figure .
  6. If resistance is 5 ohms or more, repair open in Yellow/Red wire. Perform TEST SC-VER  . If resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace PCM. Perform TEST SC-VER  .
