Preliminary Checks
- Inspect condition of battery, battery cables, battery posts, connections to engine block, starter solenoid, and starter relay. Ensure all connections are clean and tight. Repair as required.
- Inspect all fuses in fuse block and Power Distribution Center (PDC). Ensure fuses are clean and tight. Repair or replace as required. Inspect generator mounting bolts for tightness and corrosion. Replace, clean or tighten bolts as required.
- Inspect condition and tension of generator drive belt. Adjust or replace as required. See BELT TENSION under ADJUSTMENTS. Inspect automatic belt tensioner (ZJ body). Inspect connections at generator field control, BAT (B+) output, ground terminals, and engine-to-chassis ground. Ensure all connections are clean and tight.
