Interior Lights Test 5A - Courtesy Lights Stay On

NOTE: Perform INTERIOR LIGHTS TEST 1A  before proceeding. For connector terminal ID, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION  and WIRING DIAGRAM. Perform TEST VER-1A  after each repair.
CAUTION: Always turn ignition switch to OFF position prior to disconnecting any module connector. Ensure all connectors are clean and tight.
  1. Ensure all doors are closed and courtesy light switch is off. Using scan tool, check status of all door ajar switches. If scan tool displays SWITCH: CLOSED on any door, go to DOOR AJAR TEST 1A  . If scan tool does not display SWITCH: CLOSED on any door, go to next step.
  2. Using scan tool, check status of courtesy light switch. If scan tool displays COURTESY LAMP SWITCH: ON, go to step 6). If scan tool does not display COURTESY LAMP SWITCH: ON, go to next step.
  3. If vehicle is equipped without an anti-theft system, go to next step. If vehicle is equipped with an anti-theft system, check status of door key cylinder switch using scan tool. If scan tool displays DOOR KEY CYL: CLOSED, go to step 8). If scan tool does not display DOOR KEY CYL: CLOSED, go to next step.
  4. Remove courtesy light relay in junction block. See Fig 1 under INTERIOR LIGHTS TEST 2A. Junction block is located behind right kick panel. If courtesy lights do not go out when relay is removed, repair short between courtesy light relay connector terminal No. 30 and Body Control Module Black 24-pin connector terminal No. 6. If courtesy lights go out when relay is removed, go to next step.
  5. Turn ignition on, engine off. Ensure all door ajar switches are open. Using scan tool in ohmmeter mode, probe courtesy light relay connector terminal No. 85 (Brown/Light Green wire). If resistance is less than 500 ohms, repair short to ground in Brown/Light Green wire. If resistance is 500 ohms or more, replace courtesy light relay.
  6. Disconnect headlight switch connector. If courtesy lights go out, replace headlight switch. If courtesy lights do not go out, go to next step.
  7. Disconnect BCM Black 24-pin connector. BCM is located under left side of dash. Using scan tool in ohmmeter mode, probe BCM Black 24-pin connector terminal No. 6 (Pink/Light Blue wire). If resistance is less than 500 ohms, repair short in Pink/Light Blue wire. If resistance is 500 ohms or more, replace BCM.
  8. Using scan tool, observe status of door key cylinder switch while locking and unlocking each front door and liftgate with key. If status of door key cylinder switch changes to OPEN when locks are turned, repair sticking lock mechanism. If status of door key cylinder switch does not change to OPEN when locks are turned, go to next step.
  9. Disconnect Body Control Module (BCM) Black 14-pin connector. Using scan tool in ohmmeter mode, probe BCM Black 14-pin connector terminal No. 10 (Violet/Yellow wire). If resistance is more than 300 ohms, replace BCM. If resistance is 300 ohms or less, go to next step.
  10. Reconnect BCM Black 14-pin connector. Using scan tool, continue to monitor status of door key cylinder switches. Remove left front door inner trim panel. Disconnect key cylinder switch connector. See Fig 1 . If door key cylinder switch status changes to OPEN, replace door key cylinder switch. If door key cylinder switch status does not change to OPEN, go to next step.
  11. Remove right front door inner trim panel. Disconnect key cylinder switch connector. If door key cylinder switch status changes to OPEN, replace door key cylinder switch. If door key cylinder switch status does not change to OPEN, go to next step.
  12. Remove liftgate inner trim panel. Disconnect key cylinder switch connector. See Fig 2 . If door key cylinder switch status changes to OPEN, replace door key cylinder switch. If door key cylinder switch status does not change to OPEN, repair short between BCM Black 14-pin connector terminal No. 10 (Violet/Yellow wire) and liftgate key cylinder switch.
