Test 15A - "G" Switch Sensor Not Processable

NOTE: Perform TEST 1A before proceeding.
  1. Inspect "G" switch sensor and connector for obvious damage. Repair as necessary. Perform TEST VER-1A - VERIFICATION TEST  . If sensor and connector are okay, go to next step.
  2. Turn ignition off. Disconnect Controller Anti-Lock Brake (CAB) connector. CAB is located near air cleaner housing. Inspect connector for any damaged or pushed out terminals. Repair connector as necessary. Perform TEST VER-1A - VERIFICATION TEST  . If terminals are okay, go to next step.
  3. Disconnect "G" switch sensor 3-pin connector. Inspect connector for any damaged or pushed out terminals. Repair connector as necessary. Perform TEST VER-1A - VERIFICATION TEST  . If terminals are okay, go to next step.
  4. Turn ignition on. Using scan tool in voltmeter mode, check voltage on 3-pin connector terminal No. 2 (Yellow/Violet wire). If any voltage is present, repair Yellow/Violet wire for short to B+. Perform TEST VER-1A - VERIFICATION TEST  . If no voltage is present, go to next step.
  5. Check voltage on 3-pin connector terminal No. 3 (Tan/White wire). If any voltage is present, repair Tan/White wire for short to B+. Perform TEST VER-1A - VERIFICATION TEST  . If no voltage is present, go to next step.
  6. Check voltage on 3-pin connector terminal No. 1 (Pink/Orange wire). If any voltage is present, repair Pink/Orange wire for short to B+. Perform TEST VER-1A - VERIFICATION TEST  . If no voltage is present, go to next step.
  7. Turn ignition off. Using scan tool in ohmmeter mode, check resistance of CAB connector terminal No. 13 (Pink/Orange wire). If resistance is 5 ohms or more, go to next step. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair Pink/Orange wire for short to ground. Perform TEST VER-1A - VERIFICATION TEST  .
  8. Check resistance of CAB connector terminal No. 6 (Yellow/Violet wire). If resistance is 5 ohms or more, go to next step. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair Yellow/Violet wire for short to ground. Perform TEST VER-1A - VERIFICATION TEST  .
  9. Check resistance of CAB connector terminal No. 7 (Tan/White wire). If resistance is 5 ohms or more, go to next step. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair Tan/White wire for short to ground. Perform TEST VER-1A - VERIFICATION TEST  .
  10. Reconnect CAB connector. Connect a jumper wire between "G" switch sensor connector terminals No. 1 (Pink/Orange wire) and No. 2 (Yellow/Violet). Using scan tool, read G SWITCH STATUS. If scan tool does not display G SWITCH #1 SENSE = CLOSED, go to step  13 . If scan tool displays G SWITCH #1 SENSE = CLOSED, go to next step.
  11. Remove jumper wire. Connect jumper wire between "G" switch sensor connector terminals No. 1 and No. 3 (Tan/White wire). If scan tool does not display G SWITCH #2 SENSE = CLOSED, go to next step. If scan tool displays G SWITCH #2 SENSE = CLOSED, replace "G" switch sensor. Perform TEST VER-1A - VERIFICATION TEST  .
  12. Turn ignition off. Reconnect "G" switch sensor connector. Using an external ohmmeter, check resistance between CAB connector terminals No. 7 (Tan/White wire) and No. 13 (Pink/Orange wire). If resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace CAB. Perform TEST VER-1A - VERIFICATION TEST  . If resistance is 5 ohms or more, repair open Tan/White wire. Perform TEST VER-1A.
  13. Turn ignition off. Disconnect CAB connector. Inspect connector for any damaged or pushed out terminals. Repair connector as necessary. Perform TEST VER-1A - VERIFICATION TEST  . If terminals are okay, go to next step.
  14. Connect a jumper wire between CAB connector terminals No. 8 (Black wire) and No. 13 (Pink/Orange wire). Using scan tool in ohmmeter mode, check resistance of "G" switch sensor connector terminal No. 1 (Pink/Orange wire). If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 5 ohms or more, repair open Pink/Orange wire. Perform TEST VER-1A - VERIFICATION TEST  .
  15. Remove jumper wire. Reconnect "G" switch sensor connector. Using an external ohmmeter, check resistance between CAB connector terminals No. 6 (Yellow/Violet wire) and No. 13 (Pink/Orange wire). If resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace CAB. Perform TEST VER-1A - VERIFICATION TEST  . If resistance is 5 ohms or more, repair open Yellow/Violet wire. Perform TEST VER-1A.
