Memory Seat Test 5B - Repairing Seat Switches

NOTE: Perform SYMPTOM ID TEST 1A  before proceeding with this test. For connector terminal ID, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION  and WIRING DIAGRAM and SEATS - POWER article. Perform TEST VER-3A  after each repair.
CAUTION: Always turn ignition switch to OFF position prior to disconnecting any module connector. Ensure all connectors are clean and tight.
  1. Disconnect seat switch connector. Test only inoperative seat switch sense circuits. Using ohmmeter, measure resistance between ground and both switch sense circuits of suspect motor. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 5 ohms or greater, repair short in sense circuit of suspect motor.
  2. Connect a jumper wire between terminal No. 1 (Black wire) and either switch sense circuit of suspect motor on driver's power seat switch connector. Connect another jumper wire to terminal No. 5 (Red wire) and momentarily to remaining switch sense circuit of suspect motor. If memory seat module clicks as circuit is momentarily connected, replace seat switch. If module does not click, go to next step.
  3. Disconnect jumper wires. Disconnect memory seat module "B" connector (Black). Connect jumper wire across switch sense circuits of suspect motor on "B" connector. Using ohmmeter, measure resistance across corresponding terminals on driver's power seat switch connector. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, replace memory seat module. If resistance is 5 ohms or greater, repair open switch sense circuit(s).
