Cruise Control Systems: Self-Diagnostics: Notes

WARNING: Vehicle is equipped with an air bag. Air bag must be deactivated before servicing speed control components on or around steering column. See AIR BAG RESTRAINT SYSTEM article in the ACCESSORIES/SAFETY EQUIPMENT section. DO NOT  apply electrical power to any component on steering column without first deactivating air bag system. Air bag may deploy.
NOTE: Self-diagnostic tests are written specifically for Chrysler's Diagnostic Readout Box (DRB-III) scan tool, which will be referred to as scan tool during testing procedures. If using a generic scan tool, ensure scan tool is OBD-II certified. A generic scan tool may not be capable of performing all necessary test functions. Malfunction Indicator Light (MIL), also known as CHECK ENGINE light (located on instrument panel, just below fuel gauge) may also be used for system diagnostics, but has limited diagnostic capability.
CAUTION: When battery is disconnected, vehicle computer and memory systems may lose memory data. Driveability problems may exist until computer systems have completed a relearn cycle. See COMPUTER RELEARN PROCEDURES article in GENERAL INFORMATION before disconnecting battery.
CAUTION: Always turn ignition switch to OFF position before disconnecting or connecting any module connector.
