Exterior Lighting Test 5A - Headlight Delay Inoperative
NOTE:
Perform EXTERIOR LIGHTING TEST 1A
before proceeding with this test. For connector terminal identification, refer to CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION
. For wiring diagrams, refer to WIRING DIAGRAMS
. After each repair, perform TEST VER-1A
.
CAUTION:
Always turn ignition switch to OFF position prior to disconnecting any module connector. Ensure all connectors are clean and tight.
- Using scan tool, actuate headlight relay. If headlights do not toggle on and off during actuation, go to EXTERIOR LIGHTING TEST 2B . If headlights toggle on and off during actuation, go to next step.
- Disconnect Body Control Module (BCM) Black 24-pin connector. BCM is located under left side of dash. See Figure in CHIME TEST 3A. Turn low beam headlights on. Using scan tool in voltmeter mode, measure voltage at terminal No. 9 (Violet/Orange wire) on BCM Black 24-pin connector. If voltage is less than 10 volts, repair open in Violet/Orange wire. If voltage is 10 volts or more, go to next step.
- Turn high beam headlights on. Using scan tool in voltmeter mode, measure voltage at terminal No. 24 (Red/Orange wire) on BCM Black 24-pin connector. If voltage is less than 10 volts, repair open in Red/Orange wire. If voltage is 10 volts or more, replace BCM.
