Test NTC-21B: Checking Oil Pressure Sensor

NOTE: This test applies to AB body only. For connector terminal identification, see CONNECTOR IDENTIFICATION . For component location and wiring diagram, see WIRING DIAGRAMS article.
  1. Remove oil pressure sensor. Install oil pressure gauge in oil pressure sensor opening. Start engine and let it idle. Read oil pressure. If oil pressure is not at least 4 psi (.3 kg/cm2 ), repair mechanical engine oil pressure problem as necessary and perform TEST VER-2A: ROAD TEST VERIFICATION . If oil pressure is to specification, go to next step.
  2. Allow engine to reach normal operating temperature. If oil pressure is not at least 4 psi (.3 kg/cm2 ) with engine at idle, repair mechanical engine oil pressure problem as necessary and perform TEST VER-2A: ROAD TEST VERIFICATION . If oil pressure is to specification, replace oil pressure sensor and perform TEST VER-2A: ROAD TEST VERIFICATION .
NOTE: A break in test sequence occurs at this point. Sequence skips from TEST NTC-21B to TEST NTC-25A. No tests have been omitted.
