Heated Seat Module (HSM)

NOTE: If vehicle is equipped with memory and heated seats, heated seat module will be referred to a Memory Heated Seat Module (MHSM). Before testing heated seat module, test heated seat switch, heated seat sensors and heated seat elements. See COMPONENT TESTS  .
  1. Disconnect negative battery cable. Heated Seat Module (HSM) is located under front edge of driver's seat. Disconnect HSM connectors. Using DVOM, check for continuity of Black wires between ground and HSM connector C2 terminals No. 3 and 12. See Figure . If continuity is indicated, go to next step. If continuity is not indicated, repair open in Black wire between HSM and ground.
  2. Check for continuity between ground and HSM connector C1 terminal No. 19 (Black/Orange wire). If continuity is indicated, go to next step. If continuity is not indicated, repair open in Black/Orange wire between HSM and ground.
  3. Reconnect negative battery cable. Using DVOM, measure battery voltage at Red wires of HSM connector C2 terminals No. 1 and 10. If battery voltage is indicated, diagnose HSM using scan tool following on-screen instructions. If battery voltage is not indicated, check for open in battery voltage supply circuit between power distribution center, junction block and HSM.
