Test A: All Windows Inoperative

NOTE: Driver Door Module (DDM) circuitry controls output to left front and left rear power window motors. Passenger Door Module (PDM) circuitry controls output to right front and right rear power window motors. See WIRING DIAGRAMS .
  1. Check operation of driver's power lock switch. If all door locks operate, use scan tool to check BCM, DDM and PCI data bus for proper operation. See BODY CONTROL MODULES - GRAND CHEROKEE article. If door locks are also inoperative, go to next step.
  2. Check operation of passenger's power lock switch. If all power door locks and power windows are inoperative from both front door switches, go to next step. If passenger-side doors lock and unlock, but driver's doors do not, go to step  5.
  3. Check fuse No. 12 (50-amp) in Power Distribution Center (PDC) located on right side of engine compartment. See Fig 1 and Fig 2 . If fuse is okay, go to next step. If fuse is blown, repair short or faulty component between PDC and door control modules. After repairs, replace fuse.
  4. Check for battery voltage at fuse No. 12 in PDC. If battery voltage is present, go to next step. If battery voltage is not present, repair open circuit between battery and PDC. See POWER DISTRIBUTION article in WIRING DIAGRAMS.
  5. Disconnect negative battery cable. Remove driver's door trim panel. See DOOR TRIM PANEL  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Disconnect Driver Door Module (DDM) 15-pin connector C1. Using DVOM, check for continuity between ground and DDM connector C1 terminal No. 4 (Black wire). See Fig 3. If continuity is present, go to next step. If continuity is not present, repair open in Black wire between DDM and ground.
  6. Reconnect negative battery cable. Using DVOM, check for battery voltage between ground and DDM connector C1 terminal No. 1 (Tan/Light Blue wire). If battery voltage is not present, repair open in Tan/Light Blue wire between DDM and PDC. If battery voltage is present, replace DDM. See DOOR MODULE  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
