Transmission DTC Verification Test
NOTE:
If Powertrain Control Module (PCM) has been replaced and correct VIN and mileage have not been programmed, a Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) may be set in Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) and air bag modules. If vehicle is equipped with a Sentry Key Immobilizer Module (SKIM), sentry key data must be updated to enable starting. See appropriate COMPUTER RELEARN PROCEDURES article in GENERAL INFORMATION.
- Inspect vehicle to ensure that all engine components are properly installed and connected. If any DTCs have not been repaired, go to SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM and repair as necessary. Connect scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC). Ensure fuel tank is at least 1/4 full. Turn off all accessories.
- Start engine and run until transmission temperature is more than 110°F (43°C). Check transmission fluid level. Adjust fluid level as necessary. Road test vehicle. Make 15-20 upshifts (1-2, 2-3 and 3-4). Perform shifts from a standing start to 45 MPH with a constant throttle opening of 20-25 degrees. Make 5-8 wide open throttle kick-downs with vehicle speed less than 25 MPH. Allow at least 5 seconds between kick-downs.
- For a specific DTC, road test vehicle under similar conditions when DTC was set. If DTC sets during road test, go to SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM and repair as necessary. If no DTCs set, repair is complete.
