- Replace both RKE transmitter batteries. See REMOTE KEYLESS ENTRY TRANSMITTER BATTERY under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Test each transmitter function. If all functions operate, discard old batteries, test is complete. If any functions are inoperative, go to next step.
- Using scan tool, program suspect RKE transmitter and a known-good (test) unit. See PROGRAMMING REMOTE KEYLESS ENTRY TRANSMITTER under PROGRAMMING. Test each transmitter function using both transmitters. If both transmitters fail to operate properly, diagnose RKE system concern. See BODY CONTROL MODULES - GRAND CHEROKEE article. If known-good RKE transmitter operates power door locks and suspect unit does not, replace faulty RKE transmitter. Go to next step.
- Using scan tool, program RKE transmitter(s) after test is complete to erase access code of test RKE transmitter from RKE receiver. See PROGRAMMING REMOTE KEYLESS ENTRY TRANSMITTER under PROGRAMMING.
