Cable-Park Lock: Removal

Place ignition key in the ACC (2) position. See Fig 1

Remove the lower instrument panel trim as necessary to access the park lock cable.

Disconnect park lock cable (1) from ignition cylinder (2). See Fig 2.

2 - ADJUSTMENT NUT

3 - SHIFT CABLE

4 - SHIFT CABLE ATTACHMENT

5 -PARK LOCK CABLE

Remove the floor console as necessary for access to the park lock cable. (Refer to BODY/INTERIOR/FLOOR CONSOLE - REMOVAL)
If necessary, remove the bolts holding the shield, covering the gearshift and park lock cables, to the shifter assembly and remove the shield.
Disconnect the park lock cable (5) from the shift mechanism. Release retention tab using suitable screwdriver. See Fig 3.
