WARNING:
The normal operating temperature of the exhaust system is very high. therefore, never work around or attempt to service any part of the exhaust system until it is cooled. Special care should be taken when working near the catalytic converter. The temperature of the converter rises to a high level after a short period of engine operation time.
- Position the catalyst assembly into the vehicle (5 & 6).
- Install the catalyst to DPF flange nuts. Do not tighten at this time.
- Install the differential pressure ports (2). Tighten the fittings to 30 N-m (22 lbs.ft.).
- Install the transmission crossmember. Refer to Frame and Bumpers/Frame/CROSSMEMBER - Installation .
- Install mounting bolt (7). Tighten the bolt to 8 N-m (71 lbs.in.).
- Install the DPF to transmission mounting bolt (4). Tight the bolt to 47 N-m (35 lbs.ft.).
1 - DIESEL PARTICULATE FILTER (DPF) 2 - DIFFERENTIAL PRESSURE PORTS 3 - EXHAUST TEMPERATURE SENSORS 4 - OXYGEN SENSORS 5 - MAIN CATALYST 6 - PRE CATALYST - Connect the downstream oxygen sensor connectors (4).
- Connect the exhaust temperature sensor (3).
- Install the pre-catalytic converter to catalytic converter clamp. Tighten the clamp to 20 N-m (15 lbs.ft.).
- Inspect the exhaust system for proper clearance with the frame and underbody parts. A minimum clearance of 25.4 mm (1.0 in.) is required.
- Install the catalyst to DPF flange nuts. Tighten the nuts to 47 N-m (35 lbs.ft.).
- Install the differential pressure side bracket (1). Tighten mounting bolt to 10 N-m (89 lbs. in.).
- Connect the differential pressure sensor hoses.
- Connect the upper O2 sensor.
- Connect the downstream oxygen sensor connectors (4).
- Connect the exhaust temperature sensors (3).
- Connect the differential pressure ports (2).
- Connect the negative battery cable.
