1 - MOUNTING BOLT

2 - THERMOSTAT HOUSING

WARNING: Do not loosen the radiator cap with the cooling system hot and pressurized. Serious burns from the coolant can occur.

Disconnect negative battery cable.
Remove engine cover. Refer to Engine - Removal .
Drain engine coolant below thermostat level using draincock only. See Standard Procedure .
Disconnect coolant temperature sensor electrical connector.
Remove coolant hoses and by-pass hose (1) from thermostat housing (2).
Loosen accessory drive belt and reposition generator. Refer to Electrical - Engine Systems/Charging/GENERATOR - Removal .
Remove thermostat housing (2) and O-ring.
Clean all sealing surfaces.
