Engine Block: Cleaning

Thoroughly clean the oil pan and engine block gasket surfaces.
Use compressed air to clean:
- Gallery at the oil filter adaptor hole
- Front and rear oil gallery holes
- Multiple Displacement System (MDS) oil gallery holes in the valley
- Oil feed holes for the crankshaft main bearings
Drilled and tapped holes should be free of debris upon assembly.
Once the block has been completely cleaned, apply Loctite® PST pipe sealant with Teflon 592 to the threads of the front and rear oil gallery plugs and coolant drain plugs. Tighten the oil gallery 1/4 inch x 18 NPT plugs to the proper torque specification. Refer to TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS . Tighten the coolant drain 1/4 inch x 18 NPT plugs to the proper torque specification. Refer to TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS . Tighten the 3/8 inch x 18 NPT plugs to the proper torque specification. Refer to TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
