Steering System: Gear: Removal: 5.7L/6.4L
CAUTION:
The Steering Column Control Module (SCCM) is centered to the vehicles steering system. Failure to keep the system and steering column module centered and locked/inhibited from rotating can result in SCCM damage.
- If replacing the steering gear, remove the outer tie rod ends. Refer to END, TIE ROD, REMOVAL .
- Remove the engine cradle (crossmember). Refer to CROSSMEMBER, CRADLE, ENGINE AND SUSPENSION, REMOVAL .
- Remove steering gear retaining nuts/bolts (2).
- Rotate and shift the steering gear (3) to the right enough to lift the LH side of the steering gear (3) above the engine cradle (1), then remove the steering gear (3) by moving to the right above the engine cradle (1).
